My wife was buying a souvenir at a market stall in Yaounde, the capital of Cameroon. She agreed to the merchant’s first price, much to the shock of a local shopper. “You must haggle my dear!” she shrieked, then took complete control of the transaction. We ended up with a bargain .... and a new friend who later invited us to dinner at her home.
