Venetian Peace
Category: Sense of Place

In Italy, the Carnevale di Venezia is a time of great celebration and camaraderie among strangers seeking to make new friends. Around every corner was a new mob looking for the next thrill and newer, more exciting costumes. I did what I did best while traveling and got lost. During my search for a main road, I happened upon a couple of Venice’s signature gondolas and realized, for the first time that entire day, I was all alone. Only then was I able to look past the crowds and excitement and realize the quaint beauty of the ancient city.
