Manhattan Monet

Category: Sense of Place

Photo and caption by Kristy Cross

Manhattan at dusk. My favorite part of this picture is that if you zoom in at all you have no idea what you are looking at. But once you stand back and take the whole thing in, you can tell exactly what it is. The streets sliding up the land like glowing snakes makes it feel like it is a living organism. I was riding in the cockpit jumpseat of a jet airline on approach to LaGuardia airport when I snapped this picture.

Location: Above Manhattan
