Homes on water and on land

Category: Sense of Place

Photo and caption by Ginette Thomas

This was the view from our hotel window at the Island Palms Hotel in San Diego. We enjoyed the activity of the marina activity as people came and went from their boats, and as boats came in and out of the marina. It was interesting to note the comparison to the community of boats and yachts that are home to a great number of people juxtaposed against the layout of the community of homes layered on the hill behind the marina. This photo provides and interesting perspective of a continuity of very distinct neighbourhoods blending together somehow: same purpose, different settings.

Location: Shelter Island, San Diego, California, USA
