Timkat, or Epiphany, is perhaps the most important celebration in the Ethiopian Orthodox Church. In 2012, it was celebrated on January 20th when I was in Addis Ababa and had the opportunity of attending a ceremony presided by the current Patriarch of Ethiopia, Abuna Paulos, which is here portrayed.
