Teatime during the Monsoon

Category: Sense of Place

We walked 3 hours in the monsoon rain to meet a Health Worker & observe her distributing contraceptions; a comical morning women laughing excitedly and nervously as they received their injections of depovera. Walking back to Daxinkali we stopped off for some warm tea (garam chai) and spent time with this elderly lady. I so often see young women photographed but find the older generation very elegant in their manners. I like the scene as the dog looks on as well and she is dunking her biscuit, a universal action it seems! I found the black and white suited the mood of the monsoon that morning.

Location: Nepal, 20km to the south-west Pharping area close to the Daxinkali Temple
