Winter at the Blue Lagoon

Category: Sense of Place

Photo and caption by Parul Lahoti

This photo was taken at the Blue Lagoon in Iceland at dusk (approximately 4pm) in March 2012. After spending the whole day in the aquatic wonder, I was running to catch a bus back to Reykjavik, and wanted to get one last view of the beautiful ice blue water. This photo was quickly captured on my iPhone and it best describes the feeling or sense of place I had at this incredible natural wonder. The ice blue water perfectly reflects the sky, and the peace which you feel in Iceland in the winter, surrounded by snow and enveloped by nature at her finest, is fully apparent.

Location: Blue Lagoon, Grindavík, Iceland
