Glide

He wasn't actually gliding... these little fellows move fast and flap their wings quickly! This shot was taken near Kodiak Island in Alaska on a trip with my mother for her annual family reunion in June 2012. We stopped our boat in a quiet little bay for the night by a big rock, where many tufted puffins live, so I spent an hour following them with my camera lens, trying to get a still shot. They'd appear from hidden caves within the long grass and within seconds they'd be gone again. I was ecstatic when I got this shot!

Location: Near Kodiak Island, Alaska
