I was out for photography adventure during my visit to Karachi, Pakistan in Spring 2012, and as I was driving through a poor labor-class neighborhood I saw this Afghani girl sitting at the doorsteps of her house catching sun and watching traffic go by. Her natural beauty, the depth in her hazel eyes, her nose ring made of up thread, her rough dirty bare feet, her jewelry, and her dirty hand caught my attention. Her head was uncovered so as she saw me coming out of the car with the camera she reached for the scarf and I took the photo as she was covering her head.
