Along the path to view the Black Madonna at the Basilica at the Benedictine monastery in Montserrat, Spain, pilgrims were constantly reminded to file silently past private chapels that lined the main basilica. This particular iron hanging, coupled with the flashing "Silense" sign, was reminiscent of a less popular era in Spain's religious history, the Spanish Inquisition.
