Solace

Category: Sense of Place

People often refer to Varanasi as the oldest living city on earth. As we walked along the river and climbed one of the ghats I caught site of this old man sitting alone, in solace on a roof top. The man seemed to be oblivious to everything happening around him. The busy ganges teaming with morning traffic below and the smoke from the cremated bodies behind us. He was able to block it all out and find solace sitting alone on his secluded rooftop.

Location: Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India
