The only way to stop them primates from stealing the crops in this small village in Kibale National Park, is to have people on guard pretty much 24/7. On our guided tour of this swampy area, we would come across someone keeping watch on the crops about every 400 yards or so. Most of the people who were teenagers, mothers, or older farmers and carried 3 foot long machetes for protection. As we moved deeper into the swamp, we came across this young boy sitting guard, with only a little snack in hand, and no other people in sight.
