rise of the phoenix

On a recent visit to New York City, to go and see Wagner's complete ring cycle, we came across a scorched tree that was standing in front of the World Trade Centre. Similar to the construction of the New World Trade Centre in the background , the small tree, like the glass panels was also shooting out new leaves from the bottom upwards. This "mirror image" of life, portraying the cyclic nature of both man and its environment , is a true reflection of the human spirit and mans' enduring courage to rise out of the ashes, and to walk, like Siegfried, without fear through the flames.

Location: new York City, The New World Trade Centre
