Like an iron horse roaring back to life, this steam engine at the Georgia State Railroad Museum near Savannah, is being tuned up for the upcoming Independence Day celebration. Once the life blood of an expanding nation, steam engines were relegated to museum pieces in much of the United States with the arrival of the new, cleaner, cheaper, less labor intensive diesel engines in the 1930's and 40's.
