The Tower

Category: Sense of Place

Photo and caption by Bettina Chavanne

The Eiffel Tower is one of the most recognizable structures in the world. It's been photographed millions of times and in millions of ways. It's a symbol of France and a source of national pride. But for me, it's simply a reminder that I am home. I have lived in the U.S. since I was a young girl, but my heart is, and always will be, in France. I shot the image from a perspective that rendered the emotion I feel about the Eiffel Tower - it is majestic and graceful, tall and all-seeing. And it is home.

Location: Paris, France
