Winter sunrise through the mist

Category: Sense of Place

Photo and caption by Jack Hochfeld

Driving en route from Johannesburg to Phinda Game Reserve in Natal we encountered heavy mist and impossible driving conditions. Visibility was poor and it was dark and cold. Until, the sun appeared through the mist. I had missed a similar scene previously as we were in too much of a hurry to get to where we were going. I stopped the car leaving the rear door of our vehicle open, much to the displeasure of my wife, but I was intent on capturing the scene.

Location: Near Standerton, South Africa, en route from Johannesburg to Phinda
