Walking Ahead...

Category: Sense of Place

Photo and caption by Kim Conrow

I was tired so my husband and son walked ahead to get the car when we were at the end of a hike on the valley floor of Yosemite National Park. I saw that they were about to walk into the sunbeam. I stopped, held my breath, and waited. I had a small pocket camera and prayed I could hold it still enough to capture the beauty of what I saw. Those two had hiked for years together and our son would be leaving soon for college. I love the way this image evokes the memories of their many travels together and the hopes we have for our son's future.

Location: Yosemite Valley, California
