The ancient capital of Bhutan. The Punakha valley and a historic place the Punakha Dzong (Fortress)which was built around the early 1600's. It is the winter residence for the monk body. This place was where the first King of Bhutan was crowned and his descendant the 5th King too. The Royal wedding of the 5th King took place here. The Dzong still serves as a government administrative office and religious center. It is one of the beautiful Dzongs in Bhutan
