A Dragon in the Temple

Category: Sense of Place

I accompanied my Uncle to a Buddhist temple to pay respects to my grandparents whose cremated ashes were kept there. Instead of the solemn air of prayer and chanting, we were greeted by a joyful and exciting energy of Lion Dance and Dragon Performances by the Shaolin monks of Singapore. Old and young gathered to watch as these dances ushered in an abundance of joy, good health, wealth, and happiness for all in the auspicious Dragon year.

Location: Man Fatt Lum Buddhist Temple, Bedok, Singapore
