Lightning Over The Madisons

Category: Outdoor Scenes

Photo and caption by Matthew Treager

After spending a stormy 4th of July in Yellowstone National Park, my now wife and I were set up to watch the fireworks over West Yellowstone. A thunderstorm was moving over the Madison Range to the west and she suggested I turn around and shoot towards this particular mountain which was consistently getting struck. I framed the photo and waited for the perfect strike. After a couple of tries, this massive bolt struck and all the elements came together. A moment of photographic bliss to be sure!

Location: Near Yellowstone National Park, Montana, USA
