Every year on Good Friday the villagers of San Luis Rey turn their village into Jerusalem and reenact the entire the passion story of Jesus. The last station of the cross is on a hilltop where the men portraying Jesus an the two thieves are hung from crosses. Mary, Joseph, May Magdalene, roman soldiers and many children are on lookers. Even though this is not part of my tradition, I am deeply moved by the intensity and reverence of the participants.

Location: San Luis Rey, near San Miguel de Allende, Guanajauto, Mexico
