Midnight Along the Pipeline

Category: Sense of Place

Photo and caption by Bruce Watson

A friend and I drove the length of the Dalton to Deadhorse. A late start from Coldfoot put us in the Arctic tundra quite late, but at these latitudes in summer, it is always 4 in the afternoon. The utterly flat isolation of the tundra, a particularly straight stretch of the pipeline, and the midnight sun combined for a great photo op.

Location: Just south of Deadhorse, Alaska
