FOREVER YOUNG

Category: Outdoor Scenes

The rest of the group hiked ahead on the Inca trail to the next campsite. One of the guides and three of us remained behind, enchanted by the lost ancient city of Winay Wayna. Four middle aged strangers suddenly found themselves in joyful adolescence, singing, laughing and playing among these ancient ruins. I asked what the words Winay Wayna meant in English and the guide laughed and sang out; " 'Forever Young',- of course!" Lost in our own personal mythologies in an ancient mythical place, itself lost in the mountains and the cloud forests. Of course.

Location: Winay Wayna, Peru (On the Inca Trail, Andes)
