Kuya

Colon Street is the oldest and shortest national road in the Philippines. Situated in the central island of Cebu, we went to the area with some tourists to experience the night market at one end of the street. Without warning, rain suddenly came down on us and we scampered to the side streets. After a while we saw two boys, the older one with an umbrella and the younger one playing in the rain. Kuya, or big brother in the vernacular, would help people cross the street for a small token fee while egging his little brother to do the same and help their impoverished family earn some money.
