Prayer in the Presence of Everest

Category: Travel Portraits

Photo and caption by Frederick Lin

Veronica Ma and Norman Kwong tie Nepalese prayer flags at Kala Patthar in remembrance of their Nepalese guide's father who passed away years ago while leading an expedition up to Mt. Everest. The flags had been blessed by monks at Tengboche Monestery, a gompa situated along the approach to the upper Khumbu Valley. Kala Patthar is one of the most accessible view points of Mt. Everest closest to Everest Base Camp.

Location: Kala Patthar, Khumbu Valley, Nepal
