Malians are warm, have an amazing sense of humor, and love joking around with you. But when your camera comes out, for some reason, their faces often shift to stoicism. I captured this man's laugh after chatting with him for a minute then attempting to say "3, 2, 1, smile!" in Bambara. From what I know of him, this portrait captures his personality and character in its fullest.
