Category: Sense of Place

Angkor Wat, located close to Siem Reap in Northwestern Cambodia, is not only the largest religious building in the world, but also one of the most impressive constructions in the history of mankind. Built by King Surayavarman II in the early 12th century as his state temple and capital city, it showcases Khmer Architecture at its best. Angkor Wat is the icon of Cambodia, imprinted on its national flag and for a good reason: it is one of the most jaw-dropping places I have ever laid eyes on.

Location: Siem Riep, Cambodia
