- This shot was done from a helicopter that belonged to the Icebreaker "Kapitan Dranitsyn", which is shown on the shot, during expedition to Franz Josef Land in Arctic Ocean in July 2011. Low temperature, strong wind and open door of the helicopter: I could hardly see something in the viewfinder because of the tears from my eyes, but still the shot was done perfectly almost blindly. Canon EOS 5D Mark II + Canon EF24-105 f/4L IS USM

- I was jetlagged after the 16hr flight form Chicago. Since I was awake anyways, I figured I'd walk along the Bund for some photo shooting. There is lots of activity in the morning: people riding bikes, running, flying kites etc. I got lucky, this man was doing Tai Chi as the sun rose among the skyscrapers - it made for a great photo opportunity.

- Near the city of Morondava, on the West coast of Madagascar lies an ancient forest of Baobab trees. Unique to Madagascar, the endemic species is sacred to the Malagasy people, and rightly so. Walking amongst these giants is like nothing else on this planet. Some of the trees here are over a thousand years old. It is a spiritual place, almost magical.

- My husband and I took a drive around Iceland this past July and were simply amazed by the beauty we encountered. The night we came across the boiling mud pits was one of my favorites. It was the clearest night we had thus far on our journey and we witnessed Iceland's 'Midnight Sunset' that night. And I couldn't of wished for a better night for us to witness such a beautiful light, as it casted warmth against all the textures that existed in this wonderful location as the ground reminded us it was alive!

- When light pours over the Taj Mahal everything else clears your mind. The tour guides, the crowds, the construction statistics...all become moot. When in the presence of something so divine - just be.
