Wet streets in Tallinn, Estonia

Category: Sense of Place

Photo and caption by David Woods

I was struck by the beauty and mood of the scene as my wife walked ahead of me on the wet bricks and cobblestones toward the ancient stone Viru Gate into Old Town Tallinn, Estonia. The steeple of St. Olav's Church rises between the gates. In the mid 16th and early 17th Centuries it was the tallest building in the world. I thought the covered flowers in the market told their own story about the day.
