Planet Earth's Alien Landscape

Category: Outdoor Scenes

Photo and caption by Terry Mulcahy

The huge (41,170-acre) Bisti / De-Na-Zin Wilderness area of New Mexico is full of fantastic shapes (hoodoos) that conjure up visions of dinosaurs, monkeys, people, and even pie-a-la-mode. The landscape is harsh, without trees, wildflowers or much in the way of life as we know it. One can find the bones of cows who have gotten lost here, or wonder at the random exposure of petrified wood.

Location: Bisti / De-Na-Zin Wilderness of New Mexico.
