Crashing Ice - Antarctica
Category: Spontaneous Moments

I heard this before I saw it - the deafening silence of Pleneau Bay was shattered with a thunderous crash of ice. This was one of the many icebergs that have ended their journey in "Iceberg Graveyard" and moments like this reminded me how unpredictable Antarctica can be. I suddenly felt very vulnerable in a small zodiac boat that was starting to bob over the slow but strong wave created by the crashing ice. This was a continent that played by it's own rules and the rules can change at any moment.
