Category: Spontaneous Moments
Photo and caption by Elizabeth Hesp
This picture was taken on a narrow, bumpy, country highway in Gujarat in December 2011. The local village women were riding a 'tonga' car, while I was trying to take this picture through the windshield of our moving SUV. Even though we were strangers sharing the same road, the infectious joie de vivre of the brightly clothed and bejewelled local ladies, made a spontaneous connection and contrast with me, dressed as I was, an Indian woman in my Western attire, camera in hand, smiling back at them. That fleeting connection between strangers is treasured in this image forever.
