Mama of Lake Titicaca

Category: Travel Portraits

Photo and caption by Michelle Haywood

On our visit to Peru and Bolivia we stopped for a night at the small island of Amantani on Lake Titicaca. Here we did a homestay with the most amazing family. The picture is of mama dressing in her traditional garb. Behind her is their stove, made from clay where they cooked modest but flavorful meals from the garden. Even though we could not communicate through language their hospitality is something I will always cherish.

Location: Amantani, Peru
