The islet of Mykineshólmur and the village of Mykines in the distance. Mykines is the westernmost island, and home to the only Gannet breeding colony in the Faroe Islands. There are just 12 residents on Mykines and the only access to the island is by the helicopter or ferry. It’s also not uncommon to be stranded on the island for several days or longer due to the rough seas. Storms are constantly moving though this archipelago in the far north Atlantic. I was fortunate as the break in the clouds lined up with the top of the lighthouse.
Location: Mykines, Faroe Islands
