The Barbary Macaque; the only primate that remains on the European continent. Live in the Middle Atlas of Morocco over 1700 meters in the largest cedar forest on the planet. The species is endangered by the destruction of these forests.The Barbary monkey Macaca sylvanus is Endangered (EN) and in decline as it is threatened by loss and degradation of habitat. It is the only surviving primate in Africa north of the Sahara and the only primate species that exist in Europe.
