Ready for the Gong: Buddhist Ceremony

Category: Travel Portraits

Photo and caption by Susan Schermer

On the banks of the Perfume River in the former Vietnamese capitol, Hue, sits the lovely pagoda, Thien Mu. On March 3, 2013, by chance they were having an early morning ceremony at which a young monk stood by ready to sound the gong for an other-worldly sound to accompany the other-worldly chanting of the other monks. It was a rare treat.

Location: Thien Mu Pagoda, Hue, Vietnam
