Mono Lake Overlook
Category: Outdoor Scenes
Photo and caption by C. J. Fields
On a summer trip to Yosemite we stopped at this overlook of Mono Lake. It was my original intention to photograph the stickers on the guardrail as I found these mementos left by other travelers very interesting. However, looking down on the valley and lake below I was struck by how the morning light was coloring the landscape. This picture not only captures that magic dawn hour where the light is particularly beautiful, but it also captures the silhouette of the Sierras, the reflection of Mono Lake, and two parallel roadways that lead toward the horizon.
