Fishermen from Inle Lake

Category: Travel Portraits

Photo and caption by Harjono Djoyobisono

I took this shot of fishermen from the Intha minority, early one morning on Inle Lake, in north-eastern Myanmar. The nets are unique to the lake, which is very shallow - fish are trapped inside the cone when fishermen push it to the bottom. The single paddle is also unique to Inle Lake, and the fishermen propel it with one leg while they wield the net between the other leg and an arm.

Location: Inle Lake, Myanmar
