Remains of Dunluce Castle

Category: Sense of Place

Photo and caption by Lisa Poirier

One of the first things my boyfriend and I noticed on our trip to Ireland was the vast array of castle remains scattered throughout the countryside. Dunluce Castle was one of the most beautiful and interesting castles we visited; the castle overhangs steep cliffs and it is surrounded by crashing ocean waves. I snapped this photo while walking on a trail that lead directly below the castle itself.

Location: Dunluce Castle, Northern Ireland
