Venice is probably one of the most-photographed cities in the world, and yet after 44 years I finally visited it for the first time as a photography finalist in the 2013 Arte Laguna competition. My third night there I prowled the back alleys near St. Marks, enjoying my little odyssey around this unique city. I came upon this scene just as it was beginning to rain, and the retro vintage feeling of the Foto Blit sign contrasted beautifully with the far more aged cobblestone streets and buildings in the background.
