The Making of Ponchos

Category: Travel Portraits

Photo and caption by Lisa Bretherick

After I bought a poncho in the Colombian village Villa de Leyva, I wanted to understand the process behind it. My journey took me to a small farm where they do everything from shearing the sheep to weaving the garments on this beautiful traditional wooden machine. The women are strong minded and highly skilled, and I appreciate my poncho all the more for knowing the people behind it.

Location: Villa de Leyva, Colombia
