RAVEN ATTACKS GOLDEN EAGLE IN AN ONGOING TERRITORIAL DISPUTE

Category: Spontaneous Moments

Photo and caption by charles baughman

While hiking the Deschutes River rim I noticed an Eagle climbing high in a thermal. A Raven was flapping hard to gain altitude above the Eagle to secure an aerial advantage. Once above, the Raven began a series of strafing runs on the Eagle. The Eagle would dive or roll over to defend against the attacks. This shot was hand held and the resulting photo was not altered except for cropping.

Location: Deschutes River Canyon, Deschutes County, Oregon, USAon, USA
