Baby at Swayambunath Temple, Kathmandu

Category: Travel Portraits

Photo and caption by Heidi Feldman

Walking up the many steep stairs to Swayambunath Buddhist Temple in Kathmandu, this baby was sitting in the ticket booth. Her eyes are rimmed with kohl, the traditional way to keep away evil spirits from young children. It has been established that applying kohl to children's eyes at this young age may be a toxic element in their body.

Location: Swayambunath Temple, Kathmandu, Nepal
