The Unlikely Nest

Category: Outdoor Scenes

Photo and caption by Nora Lawson

Unnoticed each day this spring while sitting on her eggs, a Canadian Goose brought five adorable goslings safely into this world. Mama goose returns each Spring to the same log at the spectacular Crescent Lake to nest. Located on the upper end of a log, this family is only 50 feet off of a main highway. I was blessed to spot the mother laying on the eggs for 2+ weeks. To my delight I was able to capture adorable still photos as well as video footage of her flight to bath in the lake and return to her unlikely nest. This is the most special view of nature I have ever captured on camera.

Location: Crescent Lake on the Olympic Peninsula, Washington State
