Beach Lettuce Seed Medicine

Category: Sense of Place

The Beach Lettuce Seed has remarkable healing properties as an eyewash and coolant for skin burns. A handful of seeds were plucked from the thick, leafy plant on the shores of Cooya Beach. The clear juice trickled out of the seed into the palm of a man who calls this part of the world his home. I was in Kuku Yalanji country shooting for the day with the aim of harnessing the senses and heritage of Cooya Beach on camera.

Location: Cooya Beach, Far North Queensland, Australia
