Flight of the Turtle

Category: Sense of Place

Sipadan is one of the five top dive sites in the world. Situated 35km south of Semporna, it’s strategic geographical location has one of the richest marine habitats. Well known for large numbers of green and hawksbill turtles, it would be rare for a diver not to bump into them. During safety stop at one of my dives, I was admiring the glittering sun rays breaking through the surface of the sea when a turtle decided to soar towards the light for air. Watching the gracefulness of this angel under the rays was truly an amazing experience.

Location: Sipadan Island, Semporna, Sabah Malaysia
