This photo is taken at the top of the Chitu la pass 5,230m looking down to three frozen lakes on the plateau below. The scenery is incredibly majestic. Despite being at over 5200m the mountains around us are still so much higher. To the right of the first lake you can catch a glimpse of our faithful yaks that coped so well in this environment. This trek is between two of the most important monasteries in Tibet (Ganden and Samye) - and with scenery like this it felt like a privileged pilgrimage.
