Rival Zebras

Category: Spontaneous Moments

Photo and caption by mark brackin

I took the shot standing on a bench at the zoo. Whinnies and dust attracted me as the dominate zebra (the biter) chased it's rival. Seconds before this shot the rival hit the brakes, covered his hind flanks and stood his ground. This image is the result. The alpha had the upper hand and vanquished his rival. What a great example of survival of the fittest
