Each spring Takayama, Japan hosts a festival where 200+ year old floats are carried by locals through the area's historic streets. It's a very popular festival and thousands come from all over Japan to witness the event. The town's children participate in the festivities by playing traditional instruments while riding atop the giant floats. We captured this image of a young boy waiting for the floats to begin their evening procession.

Location: Takayama, Japan
