Category: Spontaneous Moments

Each spring Takayama, Japan hosts a festival where 200+ year old floats are carried by locals through the area's historic streets. It's a very popular festival and thousands come from all over Japan to witness the event. The town's children participate in the festivities by playing traditional instruments while riding atop the giant floats. We captured this spontaneous image of a young boy searching for his friend who was busy practicing for the evening's procession.

Location: Takayama, Japan
